Rovers
I'm a member of the Heathmont Rover Crew. Rovers are simply big Scouts, who can do more stuff as they're over 18 years old. We meet at the Scout hall each Tuesday night. Before you ask, no we don't tie knots, we use gaffa tape, cable ties and tek screws. We regularly go away camping, be it to hike, raft, ride or just lay around and relax. We used to have a buggy (called UCMEGO - UC Torona) for racing at rover motorsport events like mudbash, but it is no longer since the changes in public liability insurance. Now we have a raft (called UCMESINK), which won the 2004 Bill Rutherford's Raft Race. For more information go to the crew website
Bogong Rover Chalet
Since 2000 I've been skiing into the Bogong Rover Chalet for a week in the snow. This is a $1 million chalet situated 11km for Falls Creek Resort owned and run by Rovers Victoria. Its a great place to spend a week with 34 other people, and its the cheapest fully catered week in the snow you'll ever get. I'm on the 2004-2005 chalet management committee (BCMG), responsible for their website.
Tassie Moot
I'm going to the 16th Australian Rover Moot, held in Tasmania. Its like a Jamboree, but on a bigger scale. I'm all booked and paid up. I've even booked my flights. I've been to Tassie before to do the Overland trail, but I never been white water rafting before, so I ticked that box on in the expedition section of application form. If your a Rover, and not going, get your butt into gear.
